Baltic Wood, a manufacturer of wooden floors, has initiated a tree planting campaign in Jasło. The motivation behind the campaign is to protect the natural surroundings and propagate green attitudes among local communities. On the production plant premises in Jasło the company management and associates have planted 18 oak trees famed for longevity.
The ceremonial tree-planting took place on April 21, 2017 in the area surrounding the Baltic Wood production plant in Jasło. The afforestation plan involved oak saplings, as oak is one of the noblest trees symbolising strength and endurance. The implementation of the project was begun by the members of the Management and Supervisory Boards, who ceremoniously planted the first tree outside the company’s headquarters. The next saplings were planted by representatives of the company’s departments of conservation, quality, technology, sales, finance and marketing. The event was attended by representatives of the Municipal Office – Antoni Pikul, the deputy mayor of the town of Jasło, and Joanna Pawelec, an inspector at the Department of Investment, Municipal Services and Environmental Protection.
– Planting trees symbolises our respect for the natural environment. We hope that the newly-planted oaks stay in Jasło for hundreds of years, delighting future generations of inhabitants with their beauty and grandeur – said Rafał Zawierucha, President of the Management Board of Baltic Wood S.A. – The purpose of the undertaking is to raise environmental awareness, promote eco-friendly attitudes and values which fall within the scope of the company’s activity as an essential field.
Production eco-accountability
The celebrations included a tour of the Baltic Wood production plant. The high-quality wooden flooring is manufactured at the state-of-the-art plant with the surface area of more than 20,000 square metres. The attendees were afforded an opportunity to learn the technology and the complete production process – from the processing of raw material to the end-product. – The high quality of our products goes hand in hand with respect for the natural environment. The wood used for production comes from certified forests supervised by FSC, and all the products meet the highest standards concerned with the emission of noxious chemicals – adds Magdalena Marek, a member of the Management Board of Baltic Wood. The company’s eco-accountability is corroborated by FSC and M1 certificates.
