A wooden floor of an intense chocolate hue, from the Timeless Collection™ by Baltic Wood, has received the main award in the 2018 INSPIRATIONS Competition, which recommends the best finishing and interior design products. As a token of its appreciation of the original design and high quality of the product, the “Medieval Castle” floor received the prestigious award from the Jury.
The Baltic Wood floor from the Timeless Collection™ of hand-distressed floors has received the award in the Flooring category. The jury of the 2018 INSPIRATIONS Competition, composed of inter alia architects and interior design magazine editors, has come to recognise its distinctive pattern and vibrant colour as one of the most topical interior design trends. The award committee members found the combination of fashionable design, extensive decor possibilities and usability particularly pleasing.
The Medieval Castle is a classic, dark-brown, oak floor which perfectly fits in with the currently fashionable trend for robust colour schemes and patterns, drawing inspiration from nature and referring to ecology and earth colours. The dark chocolate hue and the pronounced structure of distressed wood – reminiscent of the colonial style and distant travel – constitute an interesting alternative to classical parquet flooring. The awarded floor is an offering for people looking for unique solutions, as it combines fine aesthetics with supreme quality and durability. The three-layered floor comes in the design of 1-row, 3-row and herringbone patterns, thus affording architects a choice and adjustment to individual design objectives.
̶ Distressed floors are one of the most topical interior design trends which find application in parlours, bedrooms and kitchens in new houses and apartments – says Magdalena Marek, member of Baltic Wood S.A. Board and Sales Director. ̶ Old style floors, which enhance originality and profundity, are a must in the loft décor with a Scandinavian or vintage style.
Timeless Collection™ is an exclusive collection of engineered, hand-distressed floors whose surface has been elaborately finished and additionally refined with natural oil. An individually crafted floorboard imparts a sophisticated and inimitable character to the floor. Natural oak floors are characterised by rich graining and a large amount of tannins – substances which in reaction with a variety of chemicals yield a desired colour. In order to obtain unique results, wood is whitened and darkened in the process of saturation with brown, grey or black. The original look of the old, rugged and scratched wood is an effect of special Baltic Wood technological processes which change the surface texture. The delicate distress effect has been obtained through planing and brushing, carving the “woodworm’s path,” and the elaborate, hand-made bevelling on each side of the board.
The idea behind the 2018 INSPIRATIONS is to single out and recommend the best finish and interior decoration products available on the market, e.g. furniture, accessories, household appliances, finishing and decoration materials. The jury composed of interior decorators, representatives of design institutions and interior design magazines evaluates the products entered for the competition in 12 categories, and chooses the most interesting ones in respect of design, quality and usability. The competition has been organised by Koncept publishing house for the third time. The editorial staff of the magazine Świat Rezydencji, Wnętrz & Ogrodów [The World of Residences, Interiors & Gardens], published by Koncept, makes its own competition recommendation too.
The ceremonial 2018 INSPIRATIONS Awards Giving Gala took place at Villa Foksal in Warsaw, 12 April 2018.
